About

About Ootheday

The people behind Ootheday, how each article about everyday style and outfit planning is put together, and what we will not publish.

What this site is

What you are looking at is a working blog. Old pieces stay up in the archive rather than quietly disappearing, including the ones that have aged badly.

Most of what is written about everyday style and outfit planning is written by people who have never had to live with the results. Ootheday is the opposite arrangement, and that is the whole idea behind it.

How we work

The method is dull and it works. Explain what happens, explain what it costs, explain what can go wrong, then stop writing.

We buy what we write about. It is slower, it is more expensive, and it is the only arrangement that lets us say a thing was not worth it.

How claims get checked and how money is disclosed is written down separately, on the editorial policy page.

What we publish

  • Outfit Ideas. Combinations built for a real day, not a single photo, with the reasoning behind each choice explained.
  • Capsule Wardrobe. Building a small, deliberate wardrobe that actually gets worn, instead of one that just looks organized.
  • Thrifting and Secondhand. Buying secondhand clothing well, from sizing quirks to what is actually worth the trip.
  • Accessories. Small additions that change how an outfit reads, without buying anything new to wear underneath.
  • Wardrobe Care. Washing, storing and mending clothes so they last years instead of one season.
  • Style Basics. The underlying principles behind a look that works, explained plainly rather than assumed.

Nothing gets filed under three headings at once. If a piece does not have an obvious home, that usually means it has not been thought through yet. The busiest sections are outfit ideas, capsule wardrobe and thrifting and secondhand.

The money side

There is no subscription, no newsletter upsell and no course. If that changes we will announce it on this page before anywhere else.

The limits of this site

We are not the right place for advice tailored to your exact situation. Ootheday publishes general guidance, and the difference matters more than it sounds.

Who is responsible for this

Every article carries the name of the person who wrote it, and every name links to a page listing everything else they have written.

Talia Brenner, Founder and personal stylist. Talia started by dressing friends for job interviews and first dates in college, and kept going once she realized most style advice assumes a budget and a body nobody she knew actually had.

Noah Castillo, Thrifting and secondhand writer. Noah has bought secondhand clothing for a decade and knows exactly which stores run small, which run large, and which tags mean nothing at all. He writes about buying used clothing without guessing.

Ines Duarte, Accessories and styling writer. Ines believes one well chosen accessory does more for an outfit than five new pieces of clothing, and she has spent years testing that theory against her own closet.

Why this name

People ask about the name. There is rarely a good story behind a domain, and there is not one here either. Ootheday was available, it was short enough to say out loud, and it has been the name long enough now that changing it would be more confusing than keeping it.

Fixing mistakes

Tell us which line is wrong and why, at info@ootheday.com or through the contact page. Small errors are corrected the same week. Anything that changes the advice gets a dated note at the bottom of the article.
